I get amused, no - actually annoyed, when people display total ignorance, and use pre-conceived ideas without availing themselves of the facts. This is not only a trait of people with regards to BEE, but many, of not most subjects.

In the case today a person has written to us saying:

"It is my opinion that BEE is a money making racket. A person works hard for most of there (sic) life to build a company, and a portion of it gets given to someone who generally does not know anything about the company.

I might be wrong but from what I have seen and heard, BEE is not in the best interest of South Africa as a nation. Money and power gets put into peoples hands and its wasted on corruption

This is my personal opinion."

Now I acknowledge his personal opinion, but to then throw in a line like:
"A person works hard for most of there (sic) life to build a company, and a portion of it gets given to someone who generally does not know anything about the company. "
is no longer an opinion. He is portraying a fact when there is no basis for it. Nowhere do the codes state or even suggest that a company must be given to someone - whether or not they know anything about the company. This is an urban legend, but many people are now accepting it as truth.

It's probably a lot easier to criticise something than go out and research it properly in case he finds his "facts" devoid of truth.
