B-BBEE compliance is complex. Each element, each target and then implementing it correctly while earning maximum points can be extremely time consuming and challenging. More emphasis than ever before is being placed on a good BEE status through the updated tender act (pppfa), proposed amendments to the B-BBEE act, changes to the Codes of Good Practice and the "2nd Transition". Well prepared businesses will benefit from a good BEE status by gaining customers and retaining existing customers.

BEE Sector Codes
Despite the challenges each specific BEE sector has it’s own uniqueness which further complicates matters.  If your company falls within the scope of a BEE sector code then your requirements will be slightly different to that of the Codes of Good Practice. Although most charters are similar, and ultimately designed for that industry it is still very likely that you will achieve a different score. If that score is lower, then it will have a detrimental effect on your business.

The gazetted sector codes are;

  • Tourism,  Transport,  Construction, Forestry, Chartered Accountancy,  ICT and Property.

EconoBEE is holding a morning event to assist companies understand the requirements of the recently gazetted ICT sector code, and how it impacts on your business and your B-BBEE rating.

ICT (information communication technology) is a big industry covering computer hardware, software, internet, communication, telecommunications, broadcasting and electronics.
