Tomorrow the greatest sporting event in the world starts, and it starts right in our backyard. Without doubt this is a massive opportunity not only for business but for community development, team building and motivation. Without this wonderful event we truly could never host a Super 14 final in Soweto's Orlando Stadium nor could we watch a soccer match at Loftus Versveld.
I think for the first time in South Africa the whole nation stands united with one positive goal in mind.
If you are lucky enough to have tickets - enjoy. Lastly I have come across a truly wonderful match schedule which I have posted on the EconoBEE Facebook page.
South Africa is in the grip of the greatest ever sporting event. We have got it all together - a new airport in Durban, the Gautrain, beautiful stadiums in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. We are ready for the influx of visitors and the fantastic publicity that we will get. Reports are that 3 billion people will watch the opening ceremony. That is a lot of people and a lot of publicity.
Yes there are still problems, but the positives far outweigh the negatives.
Nobody thought we could make it, but as the saying goes " 'n boer maak 'n plan" - a compliment that is loosely translated as implying no matter the hardships, we shall overcome them - we'll make a plan to succeed. AND we did!
In broad-based black economic empowerment we have an excellent set of policies - that have been badly implemented, or not implemented at all. However some companies have followed " 'n boer maak 'n plan" and implemented some really good polices and taken excellent decisions to help the country. As a result they have achieved a high BEE score and improved their own businesses.
One of the little problems of BEE is verification. The verification agencies are not bad people - they just have a difficult job to do, and sometimes they go a bit overboard in their zeal to ensure they keep their SANAS accreditation. Yes, we all know that SANAS is incompetent - even the minister, Dr Rob Davies said so, but we have made a plan to solve the problem and make your lives easier! We are running another series of popular verification conferences in July.
We will go into detail how to ensure you get all the BEE points you deserve from the verification agency. We will give you little known tips on how to maximize your scorecard. We will tell you how to talk to your verification agency in order to get them out of your hair faster.
We will show you how to prepare for verification so that verification takes one day instead of months. We will explain what documents are needed, long before you even call in a verification agency. We will even give you the templates of those documents to save time and effort.
We will show you how to request more information about a verification agency's decisions and how to appeal their decisions. (Many agencies do not get upset when we appeal their decisions - they appreciate the thought that goes into an appeal, and recognize that this knowledge adds to the overall database of knowledge that we all are accumulating.)
One client called us in after their verification: We not only found 20 extra points but they convinced their verification agency to even pay our bill! Another client gave us their preliminary scorecard showing 64.68 points - just 0.32 points below level 4. We spoke to the agency, gathered data they had used and found a small error of 1.15 points. The client therefore reached level 4.
Another client was 74.52 points. We asked the agency for the complete procurement calculation, and found one supplier's black ownership recognition that had not been taken into account. We confirmed that supplier's black ownership, and asked the agency to recalculate. The client reached 75.64 points and level 3.
Book early and receive one year's license to use our BEE Procured database worth R2500 - to find that extra fraction of a point and one year's license to use our EconoBEE Scorecard Ver 3 software worth R2500 - to calculate beforehand the exact points you have earned to ensure that your verification agency awards the points you deserve, instead of wringing your hands hoping for a good result.
While there is demand for a BBBEE Scorecard someone will be taking advantage, shouldn’t that someone be you...
