In order to meet BEE requirements to earn full points for procurement, your company must keep track of each supplier and their BEE score. Each supplier should provide a valid BEE certificate. The certificate must be renewed each year and this data must be recorded annually. While many suppliers do have valid BEE certificates, each needs to be checked to ensure they are correct and not misrepresenting their score. The many suppliers that do not have a valid certificate need to be reminded and encouraged to obtain a certificate.

Cost

In 2012, the targets increase
BEE Procurement targets are increasing in 2012. Any scorecard produced after 9th February 2012 will have to use the new targets which go up from 50% to 70% for all suppliers, and by similar amounts for the other indicators.

Even companies that have reached targets in 2010 or 2011 will have to do a lot more work if they want to remain at the same BEE compliant level in 2012.
