Practical Sustainable Development and Reporting Conference - Overview

The aim of any business is to generate sustainable profits. The goal of sustainability is to achieve this while also minimising adverse impacts on society and the environment. Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives form part of a larger strategy of sustainability. The first EconoServ Practical Sustainable Development and Reporting Conference, presented in conjunction with Kulima Solutions, will highlight the opportunities for your business from embracing the goals of sustainability. This introductory course will include an overview of the key concepts of sustainability. The key outcome of the course will be a roadmap for developing strategies and implementation plans for sustainability within your business.

The conference, which is offered in three South African cities (see below), is two days long and is structured as follows:

13h30 - 15h00	Session 3:The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) A step-by-step guide to adopting the GRI
15h00 - 15h30	Tea/ Coffee
15h30 - 17h00	Session 4 (Practical session): Operationalising the GRI Using a case study and working in groups, participants will be given the opportunity to simulate the process of designing indicators that comply with the GRI
DAY TWO
08h30 - 09h00	Tea/ Coffee
09h00 - 10h30	Session 5 (Practical session): Operationalising the GRI (continued) Report back and discussion on the practical session.
10h30 - 11h00	Tea/ Coffee
11h00 - 12h30	Session 6:From blue-green to green-green Why does sustainability make economic sense?
12h30 - 13h30	Lunch
13h30 - 15h00	Session 7 (Practical session): Ideas to make your company more sustainable A brainstorming sessions in which participants can share their ideas and learn from others
15h00 - 15h30	Tea/ Coffee
15h30 - 17h00	Session 8: Wrap-up
